Although I’m not vegan, after my vegan diet experience( How my life changed after 40+ days on a vegan diet) I grew an affinity toward vegan dishes. The chocolate almond butter smoothie bowl is one that I love! I have developed a sweet tooth over the years and this solves the problem without over indulging and getting 2 full servings of fruit. The majority of the sugar comes from the fruit and very little from the chocolate chips( depends on what type of chocolate chips. The higher the chocolate content the better).
Check out the recipe below:
2 tablespoons of 100% unsweetened cacao powder
1/3 cup of unsweetened almond milk
1 1/2 bananas( frozen for thickness)
2 tablespoons of almond butter
2 medium strawberries sliced
1/2 banana sliced
Handful of blueberries
2 tablespoons of dark chocolate or cacao chips
Blend all of the items for the smoothie. The consistency should be thick to support the toppings. Like a light pudding. Add toppings and complete! Enjoy!
